The third largest desert in the world, after Antarctica and the Arctic, it covers an epic 9 million km² which is the same size as Canada or America. By day it can reach over 50° in heat. By night it can as cold as -6°.
It’s vast, it’s foreboding, its geological history dates back over 4 million years, it’s one of the hottest places on planet earth… And it’s currently the inspiration of the latest sonic adventure from the formidable D&B quartet Task Horizon.
Following the seismic ‘Like This’ with the legendary MC Killa P, ‘Sahara’ is the next record from Task Horizon in a whole slew of dispatches following their short break in releases following their almighty ‘Raised By Robots’ EP in September 2020. That was a time when the club and festival landscape was an actual desert due to Covid, now with dancefloors back and livelier than ever, they return to fire up the raves with all the heat of the iconic north African landscape itself.
‘Sahara’ is everything we need for this essential rave reboot: Powerful strings and yearning human textures create a filmic sense of theatre and tension in the intro before we drop into a turbine groove. Electrifying, high voltage bass tones. Funky, rattling percussion. Vigorous orchestral sweeps. Musical yet mighty, heavy yet uplifting, rooted to the dancefloor but with its mind in faraway lands, this is the sound of Task Horizon in 2022. Fully loaded and ready for adventure. Care to join them?

I've been massively into jungle/dnb for the past ~22 years and can say, without hesitation, this is EP is within the top 10 I've ever run across my ear drums. Spinning these tunes is absolutely delightful as well. All the tracks are spot on, not sure which one I like the most. Hard to beat that opener though! BlueHorizon

Another class piece from Break. The original was good when it hit. The Bad Company remix was next level and this one to me is a close race for best remix of this classic. This one to me has the most gnarly drop of all. Like his formula is to sneak up on you with the drop and he accomplishes that mission over and over and over again. I've been collecting Break & Silent Witness tracks when I started buying records over 20 years ago.
